Hello, I am a new time bearded dragon owner. I have had a male bearded dragon for about 3 months now. I have him in a zilla 40b tank. I use a 100w basking bulb and a 10.0 UVB light. The basking side of the tank is probably at 105ish (seems to change a bit with the heat outside). I have noticed that my beardie started getting picky with his food and puffing up his beard. He went from eating about 15 worms a day to ever other day now I can get maybe 5-8 crickets in him. Now he seems to not want to come out of his hide. Hes been hiding for two days now. Hes looks at me when I check on him.

Anyone have any suggestions?

The store I bought him from said he was 8 months. So I'm guessing he is about a year now, give or take a few months.

He could be brumating . I am not very experienced with dragons (i just got my own this month) but from everything iIread tthat'swhat it sounds like. Do you have any pictures? How long is he?

I would monitor his weight. If it's remaining relatively stable he's probably OK. If he's acting lethargic and losing weight then it may indicate a problem. Good idea to double check temperatures and UVB exposure too. If that's off then it can cause them to act lethargic and hide or act up and glass dance.

Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
