Heat???

Hello! I'm new to this forum and well... I don't have a beardie yet, because there are some things that I still don't have clear..
The biggest thing is heat.
I live in Mexico, and it can get pretty hot in here. Right now it's 86° and it's actually pretty fresh, since it's usually hotter. It's usually around 95°-104° and sometimes 109° or even 113°
Even in the winter it can get a little hot.

My question is; If I use a heat lamp or any other heat source, will it get too hot for my dragon?? What kind of heat source would you recommend?

Welcome to the forum! I'm glad to see you're doing research so everything is just right when you get a dragon. Are those temps indoors or outside? If those are indoor temps then it may be tough to regulate the temperatures in an enclosure. I think your best bet would be to invest in a dimming thermostat. You could set the basking light up on an adjustable stand and then let the dimmer handle the fine tuning as the temperatures change. This will help keep the enclosure in a relatively steady state. For a basking light, I'd just use a PAR38 halogen flood light. You may need to test out different wattages depending on what the temperature readings are in your tank. Maybe start with a 70w or something in that range and go from there. You will also want a good UVB light. I recommend a T5 tube that runs about 1/2 the length of the enclosure. It should be mounted on the basking side and sit about 12'' above the highest basking area.

Thank you so much! Now I know what types of lights to look for! I'll experiment with wattages for a week or two before I get my beardie. Luckly, I know how to keep the temperature of my room pretty stable, so I guess that would help...
