So I've been trying to breed mealworms simply as a backup feeder because they are really easy to keep/breed. I've gotten my first few beetles and they all look normal. Except this morning I woke up and saw a new beetle that is white like this:

What is this thing? Is this just a different version of a mealworm beetle? It looks like it has wings that it can use. Can it fly? Should I be worried about it escaping?

That's how they look right when they molt and become a beetle. He will probably be black by the end of the day :)

Not a problem, they are softer in that form, just like when the mealworms molt they are that white color :)

I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
