Starting with dubia

So I have finally convinced my spouse that the roaches would be cleaner and easier and a lot less noisy. I think I know what I need to get started. It looks like oversized then I can get almost anywhere and some screen mesh from a local hardware store.
Do I also need a crates for them or is it paper towel rolls or does it not matter?
Also where is a good place to buy Them? I have looked all around where I live and can't find anybody or anywhere that sells them. I live in Florida about 45 minutes South of Tampa

All help is greatly appreciated

Thanks for coming here before you tried to purchase them, they are illegal to have in Florida. This is why you can't find them. Sorry to bust your bubble!

Silk worms are a great feeder option. Much harder to breed though than dubias. But buying the eggs and hatching them still ends up being a cheap alternative. Especially if you have mulberry trees nearby.

I've had dubia colonies but I've always wanted to try breeding silkworms.

Are you looking to feed, or to try to start a colony? I'm also in Florida and have had good luck with discoids from both lindasgonebuggie (the website is atrocious, but you can order on it, and she replies quickly to email. The order comes in good shape, too. I don't love the high shipping charge) - I got mixed sizes - some for feeding and some to add to starter colony. Most recently I ordered from Luna-Roaches, who have a much more up to date set of website/eBay shop/FB, etc options, and better prices/shipping. I got babies for feeding, and mixed sizes to do same as before - some for feeding, some to add to colony (mine won't start producing until late May at the earliest. I haven't had them very long. I got the initial "kit" from reptilereadyfeeders. Or readyreptilefeeders. It's one of those - I don't remember at the moment but they should be easy to find online. The roaches are WAY cleaner and don't stink like crickets do. Just be prepared for how ginormous the adults will seem!

Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
