I just found out about dubia roach cleaners such as buffalo bettles, but can darkling (or mealworm) beetles be used as a cleaners in their cage?

Yeah probably. I have a bunch of superworms and their beetles in my roach tank. I don't notice a huge difference in level of cleanliness (it wasn't all that dirty to begin with) but it doesn't seem to hurt.
