Hey y'all, I'm starting a dubia colony around next week when my package comes, and I've been ordering more dubias to go along with it. I got the large adult starter from theroachguy.com and it comes with 75 M-L dubi's. Along with that, I'm purchasing 100 3/4", 100 1/2", 100 5/8", and 100 1"+ mixed with adults, from dubideli.com and dubiaroaches.com. I'll have around 475 dubias or more along with 10 females and 5 males that the kit is giving me. BUUUUUUTTTTTTT, I've also heard that it could take a while with the less females you have, and of course I know more females to males for a ratio. So, along with 10 females, I also ordered 15 more females, so 25 in total. Along with 3 more males. Is that good enough to quickly start a colony? Thanks!!

It still may take a while but having the adults will make things quicker. I ordered a mix pack of around 500-600 roaches (no adults) one september and the second generation was all over by February. That may be knocked down to 2-3 months with adults in the mix. I've read that an adult can produce up to around 40 babies per month. It's good you're getting a mix pack so that there will be multiple generations staggered. In my thinking that will make the colony stronger from the start.

I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
