superworms dead?

Postby neo8175 » Sat May 08, 2021 10:37 am

So I bought a couple hundred medium superworms from and been keeping them in a plastic container with a vented hole at room temp. filled with wheat bran and ground up oatmeal. I put a jar lid on top and every days toss in a few carrots or squash. Lately, I've been noticing alot of dried up and dead superworms in the substrate. Are they getting dehydrated or eating each other? Should I ditch thejar lid and put the food directly on top of the wheat bran?

I would try ditching the jar. I found that when I put slices of carrot or some fresh greens on the substrate, they would grab it and pull it down into the substrate to eat and hydrate. You want to check on it to make sure it doesn't get moldy (and replace it if you see signs of this).
