What treatment, paint, and or sealant is needed for wood?

You can treat the inside with whatever you want really. You can paint it ( I typically paint mine white) or use a wood sealer.
Whatever you decide to do, just make sure it has completely cured before putting your dragon in it. This means if you can still smell the paint or sealer, it's not fully cured yet. This can take over a week or two depending on what you use.
I use plywood. Easier to work with and lighter than melamine.
