I have recently begun converting an old work bench into a vivarium. About 5 years ago I started keeping fish. I have (3) 55 gallon aquariums in my house plus 2 cats 1 dog 3 kids a red ear slider and of course a wife. I'm pretty well tapped out on spare room but if I can use a vivarium as an aquarium stand then I can squeeze a little more pet space into this house yet. Its hard to tell from the pic where my plan is headed but its 6 feet long and 2 feet wide and the space will be 2 feet tall with cabinet space underneath. The space for my eventual (adult) bearded dragon will be 4'x2'x2' and the other side will be divided and be roughly 2'x2'x2' for a yet to be determined reptile of some sort. It is properly braced and right in the very center on top will sit a 55 gallon aquarium. The entire bench will be painted inside and out and the aquarium does not leak. All my lighting and heat will be mounted inside at the top for the bearded dragon. For the back wall I'm using peg board for air flow. The front will be a plexiglass door and one side will be plywood and my biggest question or concern here is the other side. Would it be ok to use screen on the side rather than the top? I could cut about a 10 inch by 20 inch hole at the top and screen it in but I'd prefer not to cut the top if it isn't necessary.
Thanks. I just wasn't sure if enough humidity would escape the peg board wall. The heat from the lights shouldn't affect the aquarium much as it houses an Oscar with a heater in the tank already.
Homemade climbing rocks with an added touch to make it personalized just for me, courtesy of my very talented mother. Mount Kissmore was bought, the rest is homemade.
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.
Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
