First time posting and such. Anyways, I made a fake rock wall and am just posting to show my creation and maybe help anyone thinking of making one. Cheers!
Starting with the styrofoam structure, I used liquid nails and a knife and cut strips of foam to piece together
Finished with styrofoam and added great stuff spray foam for bumpy surfaces and filling gaps
Cut out the bottom base
Apply the grout, I did 4 coats of non sanded grout
Eveything is removable into 6 pieces for easy cleaning and easy access to my beardie if he's in the cave.
Painted with acrylic paint and sealed with outdoor Mod Podge. Also took some sand and sprinkled it on when the last layer of sealant was drying, it makes a night and day difference in traction. I used non-glazed porcelain for the front of the tank, then folded repti carpet in the back as a comfy bed for him to sleep on.
Finally I added some plants to cover the ugly crevice down the middle and then took some fine sandpaper to buff out the shine. Just bought a new Reptisun 10.0 18'' to mount under the screen and a 100 watt basking bulb will go over the platform on the left. In total everything costed me about $120 canadian as everything where I live is overpriced and that's the cost with various coupons and sale/clearance items.
