Hi guys.
So my beardie has been diagnosed with coccidia again. A re-infection or something happened, maybe with the tools I'm using :banghead:

I'm going to treat her with some Ponazuril (toltrazuril) that's been in my dresser for 3 1/2 months it still should be good right?
Still in the package and everything.

Anyways I'm not 100 % sure on dosage.
And skittles is in brumation right now.

Is it okay to treat during brumation?

The meds. should be fine. How high was her coccidia count and is she sickly at all [ before going in to brumation ? ] You could dose her but you'd want to be 100 % sure she's awake so she wouldn't aspirate and that she really needs it.

Well she never really went into brumation I guess.(what the reptile shop was telling me).
She's still basking.
She's losing some weight.

I honestly thought this was brumation.
She's really good at hiding illness.
When she pooped I knew something was wrong, it didn't smell right.

So the reptile shop said to treat her with a little extra medication(more than prescribed) and that usually works.

And do I clean the outside of the tank(my bedroom) since she's been out
I would hate to have to rip everything out & clean every little thing in my house.

UPDATE:
First attempt at giving meds by myself and I got bit on the finger while trying to get miss skittles mouth open.
:(
Made me feel kind of bad

Anyways I didn't get a full dosage in her today. some of it spilled out of her mouth.
Should I treat for 4 days?
I want this nasty coccidia gone.

Hello,

I'm sure she is happy about getting a bite on your finger, LOL, but that had to hurt.
Do you need help with dosage at all?
I would give one dose, every 5 days for a total of 3 or 4 treatments, max. The Ponazuril only
needs to be given for a few doses & it should wipe the coccidia out.
Has she lost weight at all?

Yeah lol
It's all technique

I'm following the directions from beardeddragon.co where I got it from.
I'm actually dosing her every 24 hrs for 3 days, I might do 4.
I don't need help with dosage. I got a dosage chart and everything so I think I'm okay.

I'm not sure if she has lost weight.
I doubt it, she did eat today.
I'll see if I can get a weight on her in the next couple days.

So cage cleaning, how frequent should they be?
I'm using f10sc dilluted to 1:250
I was thinking every other day.

EDIT:
When should I do a 4th dose?
Should I wait a few days?

UPDATE:
Did the 3rd dose not too sure if I'm doing a fourth.
So my bearded dragons not basking today, just kind of laying by her basking spot.
Is this normal after a round of treatment?
I'm sure once I get her log baked and cleaned she'll be up there again
I've notice this drug is very forgiving, she's doing way better on this med than she was on sulfa drugs.

And I was wondering, should I start flushing her system with water?

Is she acting lethargic after the 3rd dose? If she is then I'd hold off. 3 doses should do the trick in a lot of cases so I'd keep everything sanitized using ammonia or heat/steam. Using F10 I'd make it a bit more concentrated for a little while. Maybe down to 1:100 or 1:150 or so.

As far as water goes, I'd offer plenty. Just drip it on her nose and let her lick it up if she wants it. More frequent small batches is better than a lot at once. If she refuses the water don't force it though. Just make it available for her.

Okay.
I just thought she needed water, it is available.
She was running around like crazy this morning after she pooped. Glass surfing and stuff.

How do you guys recommend sanitizing my spray bottle. With f10sc?
Just the nozzle mainly.

Yeah F10 should do the trick. Or you could just plop it in a pot of boiling water for a few minutes.

Okay thanks.
Other than running around needing to go potty she's been kind of lazy.

Anyways should I be concerned of her running through her poop while I'm gone?
She did it a couple times and I don't want her re-infected.

What about this product?

Natural dragon wash soap?

I feel like a bath wouldn't be enough and I really need to get into her scales and use maybe a soft brush.
What do you guys think?

No, don't worry too much about that. You may actually be stressing her out a bit with all the cleaning + moving her around. She wil not get reinfected by what's on her scales, only if she's constantly licking herself. Plus there's no way to kill it if it is on her scales so try not to worry so much ! Feed her some of her fave foods. If she
s never had hornworms, get some for her. Can you post pics of her BTW ?

I agree not to worry too much about that. A bath should be fine if she runs through poop. I usually add a few drops of baby soap to help with bigger messes. My vet has suggested spraying their bottom with some vetericyn after they poop during treatment but that is a bit of an extra step rather than a necessity. Just focus on cleaning poop quickly and sanitizing the area and you should be in good shape.

Yes I can post some pics.

So she's been running around, glass surfing a lot in the mornings.
Then she'll lay by her or on her basking spot in the afternoon.

Is she gonna start eating or go into brumation??
Because last year brumation started in October.
I treated her a week ago.

She's basking atm.
Here's her chilling on her box(temporary)
full

Hello,

She looks great, how is she doing?
So sorry I didn't check back in sooner. I agree, I would probably hold off on giving anymore
of the meds, I think that 3 doses of Ponazuril is plenty right now.
She is old enough to brumate & since she did brumate last year, her behavior is probably
going to follow suit this year also. Is she eating much at all right now?
Definitely just do your best to keep it clean & it should be just fine, she shouldn't reinfect
herself.

Thanks Tracie.
Okay, so you think she will start brumating?
She ate yesterday, mostly hornworms but other than that not much.

And I should probably get a fecal sample to the vet soon if she's gonna start brumating?

She's way behind on brumation. 2 1/2 months.

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
