Prometheus (most likely) has pinworms...

So currently, as one of my previous posts says, Prometheus has extremely smelly, runny poop. From research it's most likely he has pin worms.

I hear that going to the vet is cheap for a fecal exam, but it honestly varies at each vet. Here in PA, I'm assuming that it'll be more expensive since there are so few Herpetologists.

There is a website, recommended by someone on here on another forum, called bugs de lite. Or something like that, and they have a pinworm treatment that is highly recommended. If I ordered this for him and gave it to him, Would it be harmful is he doesn't have pinworms?

Thank you very much for the help

Pinworms can be treated effectively with Panacur. I'd have a float done or check out a fecal sample under microscope to determine which parasite is present and how intense the infection is. You're right that the costs vary from vet to vet. My vet charges $36 for a visit and $25 for a fecal exam. Bug De Lite is Tracie's site. She is one of the moderators on this site (Drache613). Panacur is relatively mild so it's not likely to cause harm but I still think it's best to first have a test done to see what you're dealing with and to what extent.
