Soy Yogurt

My beardie is unfortunately on Albon for 10 days. He weighs 49 grams and has coccidia, so bad the vet was in shock and he's been acting really sick. I am too worried about him to wait for the other medicine to come in the mail, so I have decided to follow her treatment schedule.

I know I need to give soy yogurt, for probiotics. How much do I give my beardie? What is the best way of getting him to eat it? I tried dipping a cricket in it but the cricket barely moved, so I had to wipe most of it off to get him to eat it (so it was wiggling again). I also used a dropper and did it like I would the medicine, but he really hates that and I'd like to avoid it if possible.

Also, how long can the yogurt stay good in the refrigerator after it has been opened?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

That is hard when he wont take it from a dropper. Will he not lick anything from a dropper at all?
The soy yogurt should keep up to a week or so in the fridge. How big of a container did you get? You can also get non dairy acidophiliz, too.
The amount is a small amount. If you are looking at the syringe, I would give .25ml to .5ml daily for him, while he is on the meds & a week or two after he is done with the meds. You could try putting it on the greens if he eats his greens, etc. Or you could try with mixing it with apple or cranberry juice, diluted.

I got the normal sized container, as if a person were to be eating 1 thing of yogurt. It's blueberry. I can get him to do it from a dropper but he rally hates it. I will just do it anyway if I can't get him to eat it off of the salad. Thank you :)

Hello,

That is too bad he doesn't like the yogurt! Maybe he would eat it off of his greens possibly? How long are you planning on giving the yogurt?
How is he doing now, is he eating now?
I hope he is feeling better soon.

He was doing a little better. Today he seems a little more tired. I've been getting him to lick the yogurt off the dropper and in turn been able to get it into his mouth (which helps because he thinks any time I have a dropper it's yogurt--makes his Albon easier to give).

Should I give it all 10 days he is on the Albon? Longer/shorter? I'm new to all of this and I've had problems finding specifics on the yogurt..

He isn't interested in his greens, ever since he's been sick. I rolled a leaf up like a cricket and dropped it in front of him during his cricket feeding and he ate it, but he was very annoyed. I also got him to eat a piece of carrot and a piece of bell pepper that way, but he's not falling for it today :(

He ate 3 crickets this morning (usually he eats around 5-6) and last night he ate more than usual, so I'm not too worried about protein , just what he's missing in his greens.

Hello,

You can give him the yogurt the entire time he is on the albon, it will help him digest his food better & help his tummy out.
You can continue to give the yogurt for a week or so after his albon is finished, also.
They normally are not interested in greens when they don't feel well. He caught onto your tricks of getting greens into him huh?
At least he did eat a few crickets though. He will hopefully feel better soon.
Let us know how he is doing.

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
