Our 7-8 month old lizard finished his meds of albon for cocidia back on Mid-May. Upon advice of mods here, I waited untuil he was odne a shed period for 1-2 weks, so needless to say,, I dropped off the stool sample today. My question is if he still has coccidia, is it okay for him to go back on the albon antibiotic? (we had him on soy yogurt the whole time he was on it as well as for weeks afterwards (he loved it) and we wanted to prevent yellow fungus.
Is it necessary for him to go back on it (the herp vet we use prefers to eliminate the parasites (he originally had pinworms and no coccidia, then the 2nd time no pw but coccidia)
He grows fine (15 1/2" long) --was under 6" when we got him Jan 3 2009. Sheds every 2-4 weeks. This is the longest time without a shed. Eats crickets, Phoenix worms, collards, butternut squash daily. Repti Sun 10.0 UVB bulb, basking temp with digital probe 99-102 (doesn't like it higher/lower, but loves to bask ON TOP of the probe
Cool side 77-84. Ambient I forget. Substrate is reptile carpet. Bathed daily (sometimes 2x daily) likes to poop OUTSIDE the cage!
Anyway, is it necessary for him to get the meds if he seems perfectly normal?
