Hi!

So after 20 years of wanting a bearded dragon I finally got my first one on June 22, 2021! Unfortunately, the pet store wasn't sure of his age so I'm having a hard time figuring out if he is where he should be size-wise. I know that there is no hard and fast rule when it comes to size since gender, morph, genetics all impact it, but was hoping to get a bit of advice on around how old he may be as well as if he is eating enough for his age.

Overall he HATES crickets! But, he does love superworms and he's been eating around 15 of those a day. Sometimes up to 25, other times as few as 8-10. He also LOVES veggies and will nibble his salad throughout the day.

I want to make sure he is getting the correct amount of protein for his growing needs!

At the moment he is 8.5" in length and weighs 34g. I'm also attaching some images for reference!

He needs a staple feeder --- http://www.beautifuldragons.com/Nutrition.html ignore the kale thing its a good staple feeder --- also staple insects are silk worms and BSFL -- www.symtonbsf.com order large do not dust them - he needs the staple insect dusted 5 x per week w/ calcium D3 and vitamins w/ beta carotene 2 x per week only ONCE per feeding -- lightly coated -- feed as many insects as he can eat in a 10 minute or so time frame -- its great hes eating his salads tho --

Thank you so much for the response! I wish I could do dubias but they are actually illegal in Canada. I will look into the staple insects and see what I can find in my area. I've been calcium dusting his worms at every feeding, but I haven't been doing vitamins with beta carotene so I will make sure to add that in.

I really appreciate the advice!

Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
