Due to becoming egg bound I had my beardie, Tofu, spayed last year. She has had a full recovery, and now a year later she's scratching around again, as though looking for a place to dig. Is it possible for a spayed bearded dragon to become gravid again? Is it normal for a spayed dragon to continue this behavior? She didn't brumate last winter, so it's even more odd. Thanks for your insights.

Hi there, yes unfortunately some spayed females can lay eggs again if the vet didn't get everything out that needed to be out. There was one here in the breeding forum a while ago. That being said, some dragons, both male and female, dig to burn off energy when they are restless.

Thanks, AHBD. I sure hope it's the latter! I guess for now I had better keep an eye on her and feel her tummy over the next few days. It would be scary if she has to go through this again!

Yes, they can grow follicles again after a spay if some tissue was missed. More concerningly they can grow it in places they shouldn't (around/attached to other organs and fat pads). Some digging in itself isn't necessarily a concern but you know your dragon, if you think something is up I can't recommend a vet visit and ultrasound enough. Hope everything goes well for you and your dragon.

Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
