First vet visit, and my beardie and I are kind of nervous

Hey guys, I just wanted to start off by saying that I'm new to the forum, but I've been watching it for a while, and it seems like this is the place to go for this sort of thing. I've had my beardie for a bit now, and I'm getting a larger tank for her soon. Recently, however, when leaving her with a trusted individual while on a trip, we were informed that there might be some parasites affecting her.
See, this is my first real pet, and we've never been to a vet. It's just a stool sample test, but because of Covid, I'm not allowed to go back with my beardie. The vets also told me that the sample would be best if put in a bag two hours before leaving, but they have other ways of getting stool samples from my beardie. Is there anyone that can tell me what they mean by that? And what other things I should expect from the visit? Is this to be trusted? It seems like a safe enough place, but I don't like the idea of giving my beardie to someone else without knowing what they plan on doing.
I know this may sound a little dumb to anyone who's been to a vet visit, but I'm terribly nervous. I would really appreciate it if there was anyone who could help me out here.

Thank you!

You should be ---- vets can be good and they can be bad!!!!!!!!!! Please do not let them do a enema that is what they meant--- other ways read this please

Since they arent letting you in and you still decide to go to the vet specifically tell them
"NO ENEMAS" -- you will wait and get a stool sample and bring it in---
here is a website to find a reptile vet in your area

If your dragon is pooing regularly, eating well, basking and thermoregulating, not injured, not sick, active ( well it's a lizard and lazy is a thing with pet pampered lizards ) , then why are you taking it to see a vet ?

Don't need to take the reptile to vet to be checked for GIT parasites , just a nice fresh stool . Let him poo, collect it on a bottle and drop it off at vet for examination for parasites w/in 24 hrs.

I don't buy into the regular vet visits for pet reptiles , it's not necessary.

A baseline vet visit can never hurt, though they can be pricey depending on your location... and if you suspect parasites, a vet visit is definitely in order. No vet around me will do a fecal exam without seeing the lizard who produced it in person, unfortunately... but your mileage may vary.

I agree with Karrie 100% - it sounds like the "other ways of getting a sample" could be an enema, which is a huge NO from pretty much anyone who has beardies. Don't let them do it - make that VERY clear. Definitely use the website Karrie provided to check for reptile specific vets in your area. Even though the list isn't perfect (my vet is on it, but she's listed on her practice's site as an avian specialist, not a reptile specialist), it's a darned site better than going in blind.

Personally, I take all my critters, mammal and reptile, in for yearly visits just to make sure all is well... I don't like the cost, of course, but that's part and parcel of having pets, in my opinion.

Thank you so much, guys. This has been very helpful so far.
For a bit of context, my beardie has been having some really bad diarrhea for the last couple of days, which is why we're taking her in. She's also been kind of restless? I don't know if that's related, but if it helps, she's been running around in circles in her home for a while now, which is very unusual for her. She's pretty exceptionally lazy, but it doesn't really look like glass surfing, just running back and forth to lose energy.
I did some research on enemas, and I am ABSOLUTELY NOT going to let them do that, if that's what they mean. I can't go in with Smaugo, but I do plan on asking some questions about the visit before I hand her off.
The place I'm going to take her to has five stars, and a lot of reviews (and is an exotic pet-specific office), so I really hope they'll be good. Of course, once I find out who exactly is taking her in, I do plan on doing some more research to find out specific professions and stuff. Thank you so much!

Basking temps diet and UVB contribute to the diahrrea -- please go over that and see if we can see maybe the issue- parasites are also a factor but sometimes it can be something simple like the lighting -- UVB brand and bulb coil or tube where in the tank is it? NO coils please
basking temps what are they and how are you taking them? NO stick ons
Diet -- what are you feeding?

Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
