hey, first post, long time lurker lol.... please look at pics and give me your opinions.... he/she is still young, around 6” long head to tail, eats dusted crickets n green lettuce, has a nice hot basking lamp n uv lamp combo from zoomed, eats n sleeps good, poops good 2, but 1 part on mouth looks like a scale that’s about 2 pop off, now the other side has a minor ridge in it, should i b worried????

Please get rid of the coil UVB -- they are inadequate and cause all kinds of health issues --- you need a long tube fixture like a Zoo Med 24" for a 40 + gallon tank and a Reptisun 10.0 T 5 bulb --- please get this ASAP--- basking temps need to be taken w/a digital probe thermometer NO stick ons they are inaccurate --- 105-110--- PLEASE NO more lettuce--- here is a website for nutrition ignore the kale thing its a good staple feederhttp://www.beautifuldragons.com/Nutrition.html
I am not sure what is on the mouth but I am going to some others look at it

Hi Matt, he looks like an alert little guy, you say he's eating well ? It's true that you'll need to upgrade to a better uvb bulb ASAP like Karrie mentioned . So I was trying to see, is that's a raw spot on his mouth as well ? I'm hoping it's not mouth rot. You can get some Maxi guard online and if you have unpasteurized honey that may help as well. If it's an infection you may need a vet to prescribe antibiotics.

yes, moves around a good amount but not skittish, eats good, likes 2 bask right under the combo lamp, right in the middle of the uv/heat lamp.... not a raw spot, more like a raised scale scab, then a space, then a very tiny ridge on the other side, like going right to left.... i have raw honey, i’ll put a dab on tonight, i’ll look up maxi guard.... but what is this? what’s causing it?

Yes those are the worst--- please replace it-- another thing NO colored bulbs as well or heat mats- don't know if you got any of that in your " kit" but please don't use them either -- if your tank is between 65-75 at nite your good

Can you get close up pics of the mouth ? Otherwise you can't quite tell . Has it been like this since you got him or has it developed ? BTW, you they can't eat big carrot chunks, they need to be finely grated.

what should i replace it with? just a bigger lamp? y r they so bad? also it did come with a heating pad, small 1, i stuck it 2 the bottom then put some thermal calcium sand over it, if she gets cold she can tuck under the log at night.... so is the uv light the only bad thing in my setup? (pic from rn)

Are you using actual sand or sand mat? Babies taste everything it's good to have a solid substrate like a textured NON adhesive shelf liner-- cut to size of tank clean w/ vinegar and water 50 50-- insects can't get underneath- dragons heat from their backs the only time this would be good is if your dragon is sick and you want to keep the tanks temp up- but a che ceramic heat emitter--- would be better- dragons like cool and dark to sleep it metabolizes their system- please get what I posted for a UVB you can try your pet stores most do not carry what I have recommended

it’s thermal calcium sand sold in a 5lb bag, zoomed makes that also but this is a different brand, it’s just loose sand with added calcium so if they ingest a small amount at least they get calcium, but the tank heater is stuck outside on the bottom where the sand is, not in the tank, is that okay or just shut it off? also there r no insects in there, i read it’s good 2 feed them elsewhere so no rotting crickets parts floating around the tank, so i have a separate plastic tub where i gut load crickets with potato n orange slices, then i put her in a plastic tub, dust a few with reptivite n calcium, then let her eat what she likes, 3 times a day.... she gives me a good poop everyday, even **** on my leg the other day!!!! ? https://www.instagram.com/p/CJrQOBprbse/?igshid=ulqghhwf9wfk

Please get rid of the heat mat and just use the che :)--- the loose sand will cause impaction if she eats it that is not good please take it out--- use paper towels for now-- sand also harbors bacteria- are you using a digital probe thermometer to get basking temps? Place the probe on the spot where she sits to bask wait 10 minutes then get temp- the two most important things in the tank are the basking temps and UVB- the control the over all.health and behavior
I am not sure what caused the mouth issue ahbd would have more insight on that

Hello,

That could be some type of injury though, so as suggested, do try using the raw, unpasteurized
honey on the affected area to help in case there is some infection going on there. Is that area
staying the same size, or has it gotten bigger recently?

Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
