hey, can anyone help with increasing humidity? my enclosures are reading 88-94 degrees Fahrenheit with humidity 15% in one enclosure and 18% in the other. I bought a new thermometer with a temp probe and another probe for humidity sprayed the enclosure and the basking rock and after about 10 min its reading 22%. I put a water bowl in there but that didn't do anything I cut a piece of my shirt to cover part of their basking spot because it gets hot for my touch even should I soak that in the water ? I read putting a wet towel on top? anything. mostly people keep saying water bowl but that didn't do anything. I also don't wanna spray too much and cause too much humidity

Where is the water bowl? Did you put it under the basking light or close to it so the water evaporates? You can get small humidifier for the room

I wouldn't worry about it. There isn't really any issue with low humidity.

I would check the calibration of your hygrometer first before trying to do anything else though.

yes. i put multiple bowls as well. ive read that too much ventilation is a thing that causes humidity to stay low as well. heres my enclosure. it has screen top as well under the doors theirs air vents https://www.petsmart.com/reptile/habitats-and-decor/terrariums/exo-terra-natural-terrarium-reptile-habitat-14957.html

Not sure about the venting -- the hygrometer is new - sometimes they need to be recalibrated- have you tried recalibrating? I think Brandon chimed in on this look back and see if you can find his post

Definitely make sure you're hygrometer is calibrated properly first. Ventilation will play a part in humidity.
If you run a fan or ac in the room, they'll lower your humidity levels. If your temps are 88 to 94F, you can safely place a towel on the cooler side of the screen to reduce ventilation. Be sure to monitor temps on that side and increase or reduce the coverage. Please be careful that you're not close to any heating source. You don't want a fire.

New here! So is low humidity an issue or not? I’m wondering if I should be concerned about this and also how to measure properly. This balance of the tank is very stressful!!! :)

Is it getting to 15% during the day? What is it getting to at nite? And like Brandon said you can put a wet towel on top of the screen during the day on your cool side and see what it does-- I dont think 15% is too bad --- try that and see what it does - there is no lights on top of the screen on the cool side is there?

At the moment, I only have one of those dials that attaches to the tanks and shows temp and humidity side by side. It says 55% humidity now. But I have on order a infrared heat sensor for temp. What should I be doing for humidity? I have been spraying his food with water as well as him.

Your humidity is fine --- you dont want it 70% or higher --- you dont need to spray him for humidity just to hydrate him if he drinks like that --and its good your spraying the salads too for hydration ---

The stick on thermometer is giving ambient temps- where do you have that stick on? You can invest in a digital hygrometer if you like- they will have a probe and the base stays out of the tank-- or I keep mine out and the probe is on the middle of back wall-

You can pick up a digital combo thermometer and hygrometer on Amazon for about 9 bucks. The price was too good to pass up so I ordered a few

Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
