Hi everyone,

not sure if you can see her nails in these pics....but they were trimmed in April when we got her, and I was wondering if it looks like its time? To me, there isn't much to trim. We have some coconut mat on the floor of her top level (tile on the bottom level, but she never climbs down there ! ) and a piece of drift wood for her basking area.

If she had her nails trimmed in April of this year then she probably doesn't need another trim yet, especially if it doesn't look like it. Beardie's nails grow fairly slowly, even when they don't have much to wear them down on.

BTW, I notice in the photo that you have one of those stick on thermometer/hygrometers in the tank. They tend to be inaccurate. You're better off to consider getting one that sits on the basking platform.

We have a set of thermometer/hygrometer probes that remote in to a small console that hangs on the wall outside the tank. The system is designed to monitor weather, but it works pretty well for keeping track of the temperature and humidity in your beardie's tank as well. Some of them come with up to 3 probes, so you can monitor both the warm and cool sides of your tank.

We do have a temp gun as well ( a few actually, thanks to my husband being a chef lol) so we tend to use that to accurately check her temps :) I would like, however, to have a probe thermometer as to measure her humidity because it seems always high to me (35-50ish).

I've never been able to find a good consensus on what the optimum humidity for a bearded dragon is supposed to be. They're desert critters, but my vet says that people make the mistake of thinking that they don't need to be hydrated. We have the opposite problem with low humidity and our beardie gets a bath every day and water dribbled on his nose to give him a chance to drink, just to keep him hydrated enough.

I've had a hard time finding those thermo/hygro probe systems I mentioned. The best one I have is an old one I got at Radio Shack almost 20 years ago, but it's wearing out now and they don't make them anymore. I don't like the new one I found. Maybe someone else knows where you can get a good one currently? :? As well as what the optimum humidity should be for a beardie, and maybe how often they usually need to have their nails trimmed. :? :? :?

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
