Aim Is Off (Feeding)

My bearded dragon is 8+ years old. No apparent health problems ever.

I've noticed, though, that his aim seems to be off when feeding. Most of the food he eats is from hand/tongs, but lately (few months?) I've noticed he is striking a bit off from the food. I just get it very close so that he can't miss, but it is definitely missing. For example, if I hold a roach for him to grab, either on the left or right side, when it catches his eye, he bites at it, but a little off. I tried the right side and the left side, but it doesn't seem to matter. I know he can see, but something is unusual.

Is this a known issue? Old age? Something else?

Thanks

Common issue with dragons and skinks .

It's a depth perception problem which is often coupled with a tendency to close the eyes before biting the insect.

You should see frogs' terrible aim! ?
I follow the StickyFrogs account on Instagram, and watching them eat, one wonders how they manage to get any food in out in the wild!

Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
