Liquid Stools w/ More Salads?

I've been trying to get 7-8 month old Figment to eat more of his salads by cutting back on the number of insect meals he gets. He used to get plenty of bugs every day, but over the past few weeks I've gradually cut back to insects only 2-3 times a week, and even then in limited amounts.

My concern is that since he's been eating more veggies - arugula, dandelion greens, turnip greens, yellow squash, and carrot shreds - his stools have gone from fairly normal looking (I posted once before about his poops being "mounds" rather than "logs" since going over to dubias) to very, very liquid, though generally with some solid-ish matter in it.

He had a fecal test just before Christmas that came back clear of parasites. Nothing else has changed in his habitat, which I've had approved by the forum when I got it set up.

My question is, what could be causing these runny stools, and should I be concerned? When he has his insects they firm right back up.

I really want him eating more salad (and yes, I've tried putting worms or bugs in the salad - he's very good at picking them out) but I don't want to be risking his health with stools that are so runny. Help, please?

Check basking temps-- 105-110-- UVB IAM assuming it's fairly new- T 8 or T 5 ? He needs his insects don't cut back on them -- if your feeding dubias get your salad w/ the worms fed first- then about an HR or so later take a little vegies out put dubias in that bowl w/ the salad - he will haft to get in the bowl to get the dubias--- and he will get salad too-

Hello,

This is pretty common when they eat more greens/veggies. What type of squash are you
feeding him & are you shredding it raw or boiling it then dicing it before giving it to him?

I'll check his basking temps today; he has a wide range to choose from due to the placement of his hammock and his branch. And yes, the UV tube was just bought in August; I'll be replacing it at the end of February.

I do that with his salads; he picks out the worms and eats a few bites of salad and then leaves. Same with the dubias. He's very, very picky!

Thanks for the reply, Tracie. I'm feeding yellow summer squash, raw and finely diced. He gets one sliced round piece of squash with each salad, maybe 1/4" thick. I'd heard that cooking it removes some of the best nutrients - or should I be cooking it? I've also started trimming off the skin- or is that okay to leave on?

I was going to vary it up by doing red bell pepper this week, but I know that's water-rich. Should I stick to the squash for a while?

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
