Pin worm meds

Hey all. Unfortunately RJ has pinworms. Kind of bummed cuz he's stayed clean for quite a while. However I'm gonna be picking up his meds soon but i can't remember the name of the meds. The vet I see doesn't provide a good medication (some kind of topical) so I have to request the type i've always heard recommended here, but i always forget the name. Thanks in advance

Pinworms aren't usually too bad to get rid of. Was the count high? A low count may not even need treatment. Fenbendazole (Panacur) is effective at treating them though, and it's fairly mild on their systems from what I've seen.

Already picked up the panacur, but just found out it was a low count, +1. I might just save it and not treat guessu yet. How long should it keep for?

You can probably keep it for a while, especially if it's still sealed. Based on the label it should be stored at room temperature.

Ah ok. It should probably still be OK for a while so I'd keep it on hand. If the packaging doesn't specify an expiration date you can ask the vet about it if you decide to use it down the road. If you do use it, it tends to be pretty mild for them and is usually only a couple of doses so I don't think it is likely to cause much harm. I'm just (overly?) cautious about administering meds unless absolutely necessary.

As am I. I figure if his body can handle it, I should let it. Given with the ADV, I'm sure there's not much he can handle on his own.
