Pain management after spay surgery

Hi all!

My poor girl needed to be spayed 2 days ago due to a diagnosis of follicular stasis. She came home yesterday with prescriptions for syringe feeding to make sure she's getting proper nutrients, a calcium supplement, and antibiotics that I have to inject every 72 hours for the next 15 days. I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience at all and can tell me if she should have been prescribed a pain reliever as well? Spaying a bearded dragon is considered massive abdominal surgery so I can only imagine that she must be in some pain right now! She looks so uncomfortable right now which I know is to be expected 48 hours after surgery, but if there's a way I can minimize her pain of course I want to do it. I will try to get in contact with my vet, but tomorrow is Sunday so that might be difficult. Any insight at all would be welcome. Thanks!

Hi there, some vets prescribe metacam pain meds. for at least the first few days, others don't. I've seen posts in this forum where the dragon was eating the next day, others within 2-3 days so it may not be as painful as we think, but certainly some level of pain.

But do ask the vet about the Metacam if you think she's in pain. Hope she does well !

I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
