Hello,

So for the last month or so, my little guy has been on and off brumating. "Semi" brumating. where he will sleep for just a few days, then become really active again, then slow down again, then brumate for a few days, etc.
Well, for the last two weeks i havent been sure if he wants to brumate or not, he is still active and up and about. But for these last month or so, his appetite has decrease by a lot. Completely losing interest in dubias. So I havent fed gim dubias in over 3 weeks now. Iv been feeding him supers and collard greens.
He is not losing weight, so thats good. At least not significant weight. I took him to the vet a few weeks ago, he weights 215 grams right now, not losing nor gaining for than 5-10 grams for the last month and a half. At the vet he was found with low levels of pin worms and low levels of coccidia, which the vet prescribed Ponazuril. And I was told that his appetite might decrease with the medication on top of everything else i said above.
But he will still eat super worms, its the only bug he will eat. And having them as staple, a long with collard greens, isnt a the greatest thing.
I just ordered 50 dubias online to start off. But today, when I tried to feed him a dubia, he really looked very interested in it, but didnt went for it and rejected it.
My idea, which i kind of not like, but might work, it to not feed him for 2-3 days, and then see if he wants dubias. But I'm not expecting much, im expecting him rejecting them again.
Iv also tried crickets, but nothing. He has been on the medication for a week and a half, but even way before that (about a month and a half ago) he started to ignore his dubias, once he decided on his first "semi" brumation where he slept for a few days. After that he lost interest in them and will only take super worms.
So, how can I get him to get back on dubias? I would really love that, and not feed him supers all the time. Crickets, he lost interest in them a looong time ago, and iv tried them a few times in the last few months but nothing.
At least he is not loosing weight, so that makes me feel better. And I dont think he has been wanted to brumate lately since he is active, alert, etc. Still eats but a lot less, only supers and collard greens.
I fed him crickets when he was 3-6 months old, then he ate dubias for 2-3 months until recently. With wanted to brumate, then not wanting to brumate, then the medicine

this one was taken a few weeks ago, the other shots of him were taken around 3 days ago. He was had little bit more belly on few weeks ago. When I took him to the vet. Weight was 215, now maybe just a few grams less.

setup is a T5h0 uvb hood, mounted around 14 inches away from his basking spot. Temps are always fine, measured with a temp gun, basking spot always 90-100F, and cool end below 85 all the time.
He is on a 40 g tank as well. Or close to 40g i forgot the exact measurements.

Any help would be greatly appreciate it.

UPDATE: today he didnt eat :( not even super worms

I'd just keep offering them. Since he isn't losing weight and he looks nice and healthy, his metabolism may still just be sluggish. When my guy came out of brumation last year he ignored food and was very hyperactive for a while (more than usual). After a few weeks of that (and a little weight loss due to the energy used) his appetite came back strong.

I will.
Thank you for the reply.
He is starting to loose a tiiiny bit of weight, i can see it.
But today he actually just 1 superworm. So not like he is completely not eating.
What would be the best/safest way to put some weight on him when he/if he loses some, superworms, wax worms, or hornworms? Or a little bit of each?
But with hornworms, the last two times he ate them he barely chewed it and came out in his poop, a big hornworm still kind of wiggling.

Hello,

Everything looks great! Give him time, he will eventually get his appetite back. After
medicating, it does take a bit for them to get back to normal.
That is a really sweet picture, too. I think he will get his metabolism back eventually.
Keep him a little warmer overnight, to be sure his immune system is boosted.

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
