I am fairly new at keeping BTS since I just got mine in April. But she’s had a few she’s problems since then. So when I first purchased her (for a reduced price because she is missing a few toes) she had a scabbed over eye. I didn’t think much of it because I figured I could treat it with antibiotics (which worked) what I didn’t see at the time of purchase was the retained sheds on her toes (at least 1 toe on each foot). Ever since I’ve gotten her I soak her in hopes of getting those layers of retained shed off. Recently one of her toes was caught by her rock and the leftover shed ripped off. Her toe now has two cuts one circling the base of her toe and the other under the base of her nail (on the same toe). Any advice to keep the toe clean and avoid infection? I am currently treating it with vet grade antibiotic spray but I’m not sure if it’ll do much. Another question is due to her susceptibility to bad sheds and open woulds what would you recommend her substrate to be? I had her on eco and cypress mulch like the vendor suggestion to retain humidity but it just encourages infections in her eye. Any advice would be greatly appreciated thank you.
