I'm glad she's not egg-bound, as stated I think she did reabsorb the follicles, which is a good thing because it prevents any egg-binding, but it can make them feel badly. I'm glad they did blood work, hopefully you'll get the whole picture with the results. I hadn't really considered gout as a possibility until you mentioned that her leg is a bit swollen, and gout will definitely cause lethargy, pain, not wanting to move her extremities, etc. So the blood work should have included her uric acid levels, maybe that's the answer. I hope it's not gout, but it's very treatable and again, much better than egg-binding.

I'm glad you ruled out the egg-binding, it's such a horrible situation when it does happen, and if not taken seriously it's quickly fatal, so when in doubt check for it. Keep us posted when you get the blood work results!

I never thought about gout ! If it turns out to be gout how is it treated and what is the recommended diet for gout ? Her staple bugs are dubias (we have a colony at home) and occasional super worms, BSFL, hornworms for treats (once every few months)

Just got a call from the vet and he had pretty bad news.. said she has an infection and her uric acid levels are really high, 33 and essentially her kidneys could be failing, he offered antibiotic injections and for me to make an appointment with an internal specialist, said he doesn't know if it's curable :( I totally forgot to ask about gout since I know high uric acid levels indicate gout, I'm actually on my way to pick a copy of the blood work and will post the results here ... I'm so worried now... she doesn't look that sick to me

Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
