Licking ?

this is a question out of curiosity , not concern haha - my baby bearded dragon has finished shedding, and is pooping daily, and eating her greens and bugs, and is active & is very healthy and doing well. I’m just quite curious - what does it mean when they lick something ?
like to clarify - my baby bearded dragon won’t be hungry at all, but sometimes she will wonder around her tank and like kind of lick different areas & different surfaces. And once when I was hand feeding her, she even walked up to me and licked my hand really quickly like once or twice & I was just curious if that meant anything haha.

also , my beardie eats from my hand, and recently she’s starting to kind of climb onto my hand (SOMETIMES) while eating if I put live bugs in the palm of my hands - she’s still quite a tiny so I can understand why my giant hand can be intimidating lol , but I was wondering :

once they get older / bigger, like in a few months when she is bigger than the size of my hand, will she be less scared of it & will it appear less intimidating ? because she eats from my fingers, eats out of the palm of my hand, let’s me move stuff around her tank w/o getting scared, is basically never stressed & is pretty much completely white beard / white belly daily, and is overall getting used to my presence - but I still can’t pick her up / touch her too much (also , I’ve only had her for a little bit over a month lol) but yeah I was just wondering once she is physically bigger than the size of my hand, will it appear less intimidating to her so that I can begin to handle her ? Like in future months, since she will be so used to getting food from my hand & she will also be bigger, will I be able to hold her ?

wow that question was worded quite oddly haha , sorry - if you don’t understand just let me know and I’ll try to reword it ?

The licking behavior is very common and shows curiosity. They are taking input about their environment/objects. It's a good sign that she is curious and investigating things around her. Be patient with the handling. Hand feeding is a good way to build a bond but some of them take longer than others to enjoy/tolerate being handled. She will likely come around to it in time. Just be sure to approach her from in front (rather than above) and support both hands and feet well (they don't like to feel off balance).

Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
