Hello, i just recently got a new bearded dragon and I already have a 3 year old beardie. They are in separate tanks. The 3 year old (Ava) headbobs and the little one squirt waves. What does this mean? I have no idea.

Beardie name(s)
Hiccup he is 6 and Blaze is 4
The one bobbing is showing dominance- the waving is showing submission- I would get them so they cannot see each other

Hi there,

Welcome to the site! :D

Head bobbing and arm waving are two things dragons do that they are famous for :)

Head bobbing is typically a sign of dominance or aggression. And arm waving is a form of submission, or passification.

So what is happening, is your older dragon is aware of the new dragon on his turf, and is showing that this is his territory and that he's the boss around here. The younger one, obviously aware of the size difference, is eager to arm wave to show submission, and show that it's not a threat.

Sometimes them being in site of eachother can stress them both out. So if you notice this, might be best to block their views of eachother.

Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
