I got my beardie a couple of months ago (he was around 2 months old). I was able to hold him for longer periods of time with little difficulty from him. Then, I got busy with school work and could not hold him for more than a couple minutes a day, so he went back to this "untamed" state. I can pet him and move him around inside the cage with no problem. He isn't aggressive at all, and does not even flex his beard or black-beard.
The problem I have is, when I try to hold him outside of his viv, he struggles and tries to get away. I know some of them are just very curious, but his beard starts to darken. He still doesn't show any other signs of aggression, just tries to get away. I know that some of them take longer to tame, especially if you leave them be for a couple of months. I have been trying to work with him, though I was just wondering about a good way to do so.
I have watched videos on how to tame these guys, and everything just says to hold them until they calm down. Not too tight, of course, while supporting all of the limbs while making him feel like he isn't trapped. Is there a good way to tame these guys? Am I "hurting" the process by taming him this way? I have been taking him out right before the lights go off and he sleeps very nicely and enjoys cuddling.
What do you guys recommend? He is still young, so could it just be curiosity or energy? I want to be able to cuddle with him the way you all seem to! I also would like to hold him often. Thank you!
