Is this normal for a 4-5 month old

Blaze went under his water dish today and was scratching ---- I dont ever recall Hiccup doing this at this age --- I have the strangest dragon - his personality is very feisty and not very friendly --- the hand taming is going slower than I would of thought - hes still flaring up and wanting to bite --- I have resorted to using a glove at times to pick him up -- but am working w/ him every day and the fact hes growing slow as well --- he has me baffled ---- he was the runt of the clutch so that could be for the reason of slow growth --- but I would of thought he might be catching up for his age --- any ideas ? anyone?
