Lately finely has been falling asleep more earlier than normal. His lights turn off at 8 pm but if I take him out anywhere from 5-7 he will just fall asleep instantly because he’s not under the lights. But most nights at around 7 he’ll just try to sleep on his basking rock and I’m not sure why he’s doing this. I wouldn’t say he’s lethargic because all day he’s really active but when it gets to be evening he just falls asleep early. He normally wakes up at about 6 am. Should I turn his lights off earlier? He’s eating mostly normal, I guess he’s eating a little less. I don’t think this is brumation because it’s not like he’s sleeping all day and also his tank temperature hasn’t gotten any colder, it’s even gotten warmer because I bought him a bigger lamp so he shouldn’t be brumating.

Hi there,

That's completely normal. It seems more dragons are starting to do that around here lately.

Actually, all of my crew has been doing that for the past month or so. They start wanting to sleep around 6 or 7 and their lights stay on until 9.
But just like Finley, they are perfectly fine otherwise. Appetites, activity, etc. all well.

How old is Finley now? A lot of dragons won't actually go through a true brumation, and sometimes they seem to just sleep a bit longer each day.

I really wouldn't worry about it if everything else seems fine! :)

Happy birthday Finley!
I’ve seen quite a few posts about this so must be time of year. I wonder if they can sense the room getting colder even if their tank isn’t. Mine is doing the same thing. He’s only 4 months old, but just not as active as he used to be. Sleeping more, eating less, but still eating and pooping just not as much as before. He is still gaining weight though. I bumped up his temps a few degrees to 110, was falling to around 100-105. And started keeping a Che on at night for temps of 75 instead of our household temp of 69-70, this has seemed to help quite a bit.

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
