whenever Jean-Luc is basking, he will sometimes close one eye. is this normal? just curious. thanks!

Normal. Sometimes they just do that haha!
Yeah it usually means they're relaxing or they're closing the eye facing you to make you "go away" =). It's not usually a concern unless you see mucous or a crusty buildup which could indicate infection.
