its been almost two months and he still hisses and tries to bite when i take him out of the tank to feed him. i take him out every day so i find it odd that he still does it. my previous beardie never once did it. do i need to spend more time handling him?

They all act a bit differently. He may still just be skittish. Don't be too forceful with handling if he clearly doesn't like it. Try things like hand feeding him in his tank so he starts associating you with treats instead of a big threatening figure. Is everything else OK in his tank in terms of UVB exposure and does he have a nice temperature gradient across the tank?

how are you picking him up when he's in his tank ?

are you chasing him about his tank with your hand/s ?

are you come at him from behind / above ?

have tried giving him food treats / bribes when you pick him up ?

I know this post is kind of old, but I had issues with one of mine freaking out because she interpreted the way I was picking her up as being threatening. Keep in mind these lizards are much smaller than us and if you try to quickly grab/squeeze them or do a quick snatch, they will feel as though they are being attacked. Try gently scooping from the side and just maintaining gentle, slow movements.

Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
