I've had my baby for about a month and he seems to be getting more used to me, but I have a lot of trouble getting him out of his tank. Once I get him out he is usually fine and calms down but he still tries to squirm. I always put my hand in front of him where he can see it and I pick him up gently.. but he always tries to run away and sometimes he even tries to jump out of the tank and it really scares me. Is this normal and will he ever calm down???

It's normal for them to be a bit jumpy, especially when you raise and lower them. It's best to approach from in front of them as you've been doing, and also to provide good support to both feet and hands at the same time. They don't like to feel off balance. I've found it best to raise and lower them slowly as well.

Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
