I don't know if Hakuna is male or female yet, ive been told have to wait a long time to tell. But gosh definitely has a funny personality licks everything lays weird just is a weird soul haha! He is also so cute, ive never have been so inlove with an animal. He was born roughly feb 6th and today when weighed he was 11 grams 9 on friday! Yesterday he was going through a headshed, scared me because he was buldging his eye out.

BTW, one of the pics looks like he's on sand. Is he?

Happy resurrection sunday!

It depends on how long they are. You can typically sex them when they're around 6". You could post a picture or two of his tail arched up at about 90 degrees and I can see if he's a male of female.

Lol, My beardies like the shoulder/neck area too. Must be comfy I guess. :dontknow:

Some pictures from this morning and fortunately hakuna finished shedding the top of his head and his back and legs he was a bit crazy being so itchy haha! But I feel that the neck area would be comfy, even though they sleep in bizarre ways.

Hakuna is really growing! And he looks like a real character! He looks quite happy, too. Does he like long snuggle times? They are much more active at that age. At three years, Dezi will choose to snuggle, over just about anything (except eating, lol!)

For sexing,Lay him on a hard surface, like a counter top, belly down. Then lift his tail from behind (gently!) and arch it up and slightly over his back. We will be looking at the area not belowthe vent, from this angle, but above it, on the tail side. We are checking for bumps--males have more distinct bumps, one on each side. Females have a small bump centrally located. Alos, males have some large pores closer to the belly..I will post the photo I used to sex Dezi, as an example of the posture needed.. Males also have some enlarged pores near the vent. In the photo, they look like brown spots or big freckles..when I showed that photo to my husband, he called it Beardie porn, ha, ha! Hakuna may not like that position, but if you go slowly and gently, he will tolerate it long enough to get some photos. hint: Having the light source from the side, instead of directly overhead, will also help.

I agree with everything that Dezismom said.

These could help too: View media item 61100
Or the flash light sexing technique: View media item 60481
When doing the flash light sexing do it almost exactly the way you would do with normal sexing, But make sure to do it in a dark windowless room with the lights off and use a very bright flash light.

Hakuna's getting cuter everyday! :love10: :love5:

Oh okay thank you I will try! Hakuna really is growing so fast and changing getting color by his ears and stuff , it's so so cool! He also loves being shown because I bring him out every one or two days and show him to the grandparents and he just sits there like yes look at how handsome I am I just love it. He loves snuggle time an hour or two before bed that's usually when I get home from work other than that sometimes he'll want to sit on my head and watch my play my game but then wants to explore fast and unfortunately there's not much place he can run around besides my bed because he's still small he can get in time places which is everywhere in my room (planning on moving out to own apartment soon)
I bought a reptile leash by fluker or zoo med I believe, I think he's too small for it so outside is not an option or I'd love to he would love the sun here in Florida when it's not humid
Also I just bought some what was it, vita-bug cricket's. I've heard good things about them any other looks on em?

He is handsome, and he knows it! It will be interesting to see what colors develope, as he grows. Dezi did not look at all like he does, now...he had no bright orange, or indications that he would be so stunning.

I have no experience with the vita bug crickets you mention; have heard nothing against them, either. Maybe some other members will give some input about them. Are they the dried kind? I prefer the live protien for Dezi, but like having some other foods, for emergencies or for travel, when live is less convenient. I keep a bag of the nat geo Bearded dragon food on hand. It looks like green peas, and comes in a sealable bag. Must be refrigerated, once opened. I soak it in hot water to warm it up (live eaters do not like cold food) and drain it on a paper towel. I dust it with calcium powder before serving. Dezi likes it alot. I offer it as one of many choices, not as a primary food source. It has a nice variety of vitamins added, and comes for juvies or adults. I buy it at pet smart. It can also be found online. Let me know how those crickets work out for you. It may be another resource for travel food for Dezi....

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
