Work in progress!

Since I need something to keep me occupied and I love to crochet, I started on a new project today. Unfortunately, it did not start out well! I was attempting this while I was on the phone with my Mom. Heh. I literally had to take this apart and start from scratch AT LEAST 5 different times within probably an hour.
Once off the phone (I do not to well with multitasking!) I was able to finally figure out what all I was doing wrong. BRAIN FART! Haha.

I love making blankets, which I am currently working on one that is a bit bigger than a king sized bed, but I saw this yarn when I was at Wal-mart earlier and the idea just hit it!

Spike normally sleeps on her hammock with a washcloth as her blanket, since she took a liking to them for some reason.
Well, they aren't really soft or thick, so I am not sure how they can be comfortable. This is 'baby yarn', what most baby blankets are made out of. It is extremely soft, thick, and feel quite comfortable.
I bought Spike's harness off Etsy and while browsing, I saw 'snuggle sacks' for small animals/bearded dragons. I am not normally good at anything that doesn't require paper and pencil, but my mom taught me how to crochet when I was probably, roughly 10 or so. I am a fidget-er... I have to have something to do with my hands... hence the fact I have several fidget spinners and fidget cubes.... this, is just another way to keep myself busy, plus, I am not that bad at it... once my brain starts functioning properly.

The beginning of Spike's new 'snuggle sack' (or whatever you want to call it):

My hands are cramping and I need to add more yarn, obviously as the picture shows, but it is starting to take shape. I might have made it a little bit big, but at least that way she will have plenty of room in it. :D

I ended up having to change my idea, again. The first one, which I have no idea what I was thinking, ended up being more in a bed shape. It reminded me of one of those round beds that little dogs sleep in; which actually looked quite nice, but unfortunately, wasn't what I was going for ... at least not this time.

Different idea worked perfectly!

As you can see, Spike wasn't complaining. Haha. I even tried to take her out, as it isn't time for lights out yet, but she retreated further inside. I took that as my que to leave her be. :D

Aww that looks so cute! Wouldn't be suprised if you have a hard time trying to get her out

So far she hasn't come out yet, but I did make the opening big enough so I could fold it back and it stays open. She is still technically inside, but basking at the same time. Haha.

I have to go to the store later today so I will grab some eyelets so I can put in the corners, that way it can be put in Spike's tank with command hooks.
(It is tightly crocheted together, lacking holes, that way a foot can not get caught. Also, I love the baby blanket yarn as it is quite soft, and toenails do not get snagged in it.)

I think I found a new hobby, but I don't think Spike needs as many hammocks and snuggle things as I could make. Haha.
Wonder what else I can figure out to make. Hmm?

See!
You can be crafty :) Spike looks incredibly content

I made Simon a little fleece bed/snuggle sack and she quickly outgrew it  silly me. I still have it but no one fits in it now.

Unless you want to yarn bomb her entire enclosure, you can look into making your own etsy store

I can't sew to save my life, but it didn't dawn on me to try and make things by crocheting them. Haha.
It definitely is quite fun to do and honestly, even though I still need eyelets for the hammock, it only took me maybe 45 minutes to and hour to complete.... granted that is nonstop working, but still. I also want to try my hand at the other type of hammocks, at least the looks. The lizard loungers, I think is what they were called, but crocheted instead.

I guess I could, but I don't know how popular things like that would be. I have absolutely no problem making them, but the question would be if anyone would buy them or even be interested for that matter.

I just realized how poor quality those hammock pictures are. Hm. The color looks dull and in reality it isn't. I used the same color yarn that I used for the snuggle thing. :/ Weird. Might just be the lighting in my room.

Better lighting:

Well, it is done! However, I really have no place at all in Spike's tank that it can fit (I tried and it's too big!). So, I guess I will just save it and use it for when her bigger viv arrives. :)

Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
