Sylphie's dragons

In a few days it'll be a month since we bought our pair of beardies. At first it was more of my boyfriend wanting them, but now I'm sooo in love with them that I'm sure we'll get more in future.

The more "orange" one is called Dragon Feet (oddball from oddball&citrus pairing) and is a female, the grey one (het. hypo citrus orange leatherback) is Bazyl, male.

After that month I noticed that Dragon Feet is more calm, she's the type that will lay and be petted. I'm not sure if that's because she's more shy and afraid of wandering around, or just more lazy, haha!

Bazyl on the contrary will sit still for a few minutes but then he'll try to jump around to see everything. Again, not sure if he's afraid and tries to hide from me, or more courageous and just likes to see everything around.

And today I decided that every month I'll do a progress pics, because man, they are growing soo fast. Especially the Dragon Feet, I never had reptile growing as fast as her.

(I'm sorry that the first pic is in box, I didn't thought of doing progress pics at the time).

I saw one of my dragons taking a bath for the first time! She literally "swam" in her water bowl for a good 5 minutes with all the circling around, "digging" in water etc. Just soo cute to see!

Your scale!babies have some beautiful colors on them and I love how your baby girl is splashing around. :D

Thank you! It was really fun to watch, not so fun to clean up as she decided to poop into the water while "swimming" so was all smelly and dirty after that. But yeah, that's pretty normal for reptiles, haha!

We went to reptile expo in Czech today, to deliver one pair of our E. schrenckii babies and to see what interesting we cna find there. We were mostly looking for citrus bearded dragon (or any other really super yellow dragon), but unfortunately nothing interesting in that department. When we decided to go home without buying anything I noticed a super small table that we missed before with hognose snake babies!!!! So I'm now having a small hognose female!

Then my husband decided that there was that one beardie baby that he really liked but since it wasn't yellow he did not mention it. And as I got an "impulse buy" on hognose we decided that he'll get that beardie :)

She's called Bazylia, couse she's white&grey, similiar to Bazyl, and when she's curious she's doing exactly the same pose. We guess she's just a normal, around month old (the breeder did speak only czech, and I'm not too good in it).

Here is a quick pic:

My beautiful girl will lost part of her finger :( She was with the male for a few minutes while cleaning the tanks, and that was a mistake on my part! I'm just so sad about it... even if I see that she's as active as always. The part of a finger looks like it is dangling on a few "strings", I'll monitor it closely and if antyhing bad happens we'll go to the vet asap. For now the wound is closed but it does not looks like it could heal without that one part dying first. It happened 2 days ago but I thought that I'll share it here, just as a warning story :( I'm really mad at myself :'(

Hello,

Great stories, so you are in Czechoslovakia? Wow, that is interesting & you went to a reptile show then that is cool.
She will be fine if a little bit of her finger comes off, just watch to be sure it doesn't get infected.
They are both very colorful dragons indeed. I hope they do well for you. :D

Thank you! I'm from Poland, but Czech's right on the other side of the border, so it takes only 3 hour trip to go there :)

Hi there!

All three of them are so cute! I really do love their colors. The grey looks kind of blueish almost. Or is that just from the picture? I noticed you said you were dropping off snake babies, are you a breeder? I've always wanted to breed beardies, but have never been able to afford it. If you don't mind me asking, where does the name Dragon Feet come from?

Jessie.

Mushupork, thank you for kind words! I'm having around 25 snakes, and this year we breed them for the first time. If you want http://www.elaphe.pl is my snake site with pics and info about all our reptiles! :)

As for the name Dragon Feet, it's a funny story!

Few months ago I started looking for lizards, even though I was always a snake person. My husband asked me one day why I'm looking for lizards and I told him without thinking "I want to feel small dragon feets on me"... Two weeks later he bought me first beardie and said that she MUST be called Dragon Feet, couse I wanted to feel dragon feets on me, haha!

As for Bazylia's color, she's clean white with grey-black markings. The blue must be from photo, I'll try to do better ones soon!

We started working on the first two tanks for Bazyl and Bazylia (tbh it's one big tank, but since they are all small it'll be divided in half), I'll post pics when we'll finish it! That way the only tank that still would need to be done will be the home of Dragon Feet!

I'll be sure to look at you're site. I've never owned a snake, honestly they kind of scare me. I think that would go away with time though. That is really funny, it's a great name :) It may not be the picture. I am a tiny bit color blind, so colors look funny to me sometimes. Good luck with the tanks. I'm starting on Mushu's new setup sometime in the next few months. I'm looking forward to making one myself. I like creating things, but I'm a bit picky so this should be interesting.

I love that story about how she was named.

Snakes are quite cool, i've had several but never 25! That's a huge amount. Unfortunately my hubbie is terrified of snakes so none are allowed in the house. I'm going to start volunteering at the humane society socialising the reptiles so I'll have to get my snake fix in that way.

Oh! That's like my dream job! I'd love to be able to spend all day handling the reptiles and feeding them and loving them...

I'm sure snakes are wonderful! They're definitely beautiful. It's really just the teeth that scare me. Once tamed I don't think I'd have an issue.

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
