We never expected to get another dragon, but our neighbours next door wanted to give away Cleo, as he was called. We'd babysat him before, he's such a sweetheart. We nicknamed him Velcro because when he snuggles he never wants to go back to his viv, he hangs on as if he's made out of velcro.

So here he is. Today was his first day with us. He ate 13 supers and ate some squash, not bad for the first day he was here. He's only in a 30 gallon tank, which will be ok for now. He's 18" long but weighs only 200g. We figure he's probably 2 yrs old. Our neighbours rescued him last fall, they found him and a female (which they named Puff) on Craig's list. They were in a 30 gallon dirty tank, with sand and a huge log that took up 1/2 the space in the tank. Leo was at the bottom, he was sooooo skinny. He's gained weight, but never got the attention he deserved. I took some pics today, but will take more tomorrow. I think he remembers our place as didn't get stressed as I expected. No stress marks at all. When we let him run around the living room, he noticed our girls and immediate black beard, so his hormones are working!

He had a bath this morning, had a big poop, no smell, so not worried about parasites.

So here are a few pics, he's a yellow & dark gray, light gray colour.

Under the communal power sun in the living room:

Discovering there are girls in those tanks up above, he has a great black beard for such a skinny boy:

On the couch, he's got a pretty diamond pattern on his back:

Thanks everyone, we're going to fatten him up for sure, he has a great appetite, better than our other beardies, except Sweetie, of course, but she's getting fat quick, which means there are more eggs growing  What I love most about him is that he's a real cuddle bunny, he would spend all day on my shoulder if I let him. He's never slept on a soft towel or had so much attention. The young couple next door took on more than they could handle, they also have a pitbull named Deja that we babysit alot (she's another cuddle bunny, but a BIG one) and a kitten named Sam, plus their other beardie Puff (who shared the tank with Leo) and 2 large tanks of fish. So that worked well for us, as we fell in love with Leo this past summer when we also babysat him for awhile.

Sure makes it tight in here, though. Never thought we'd get ANOTHER beardie, as I was sure our little apartment was just too full. It's amazing how you can always find more room for a beardie, goes to show what devoted slaves we are. Our beardies come first in our household, we run by their schedule

I really like his diamond pattern, too, have never seen that on another beardie. His skin is really soft. But I noticed today that he also has alot of old shed, especially on his feet and tail so getting some cocoa butter soon to see if I can rub them off. (That tip is from Diane). Angel also has some old shed that needs to be gotten off. I'll let you know how that works.

I'm just glad I'm off work this week on vacation. I don't know if you have been following the Olympics, but we're having about the mildest winter I can imagine and all that snow that had to be trucked in has melted! Over 8,000 people had to be reimbursed for tickets, as there was no snow for some skiing events. I know this is going to cost us a fortune in taxes going forward, not looking forward to that. Vancouver is definitely not the best place to have a Winter Olympics as you never know what kind of weather we'll get. Last winter, just before Christmas, we had about 3 feet of snow dumped on us, now that would have been great for the Winter Olympics, so of course it's Murphy's Law that everything this year is not working out!

I'll keep you posted on how Leo progresses, I'm going to measure him and weigh him tomorrow & will post where he is right now. I'm used to very heavy beardies, all of ours are at least 390g, Angel being the lightest. At least he's showing a great appetite, so hopefully that will continue.

Awww... what a sweet looking boy Leo is! As Sara said... he looks pretty good considering he is underweight. Glad to hear he is eating well for you.
I love the way he is almost camoflauged against your sofa... pretty pattern on his back.
Take care of your new boy. I know you will have him spoiled in no time :D

Thanks Dawn & Cindy. I weighed & mesured him today & he's got more weight than I thought. He's 332 grams & 18 1/2" long. He's got great fat stores in his tail, I think that's why he looks so underweight. He's fit right in, if he gets a glimpse of any of our girls, the black beard comes out. Yesterday aft, he was under the communal power sun in the living room and he was bobbing everything in sight, the plants, Roger's big chair and hassock, and just air, I guess. He did this for awhile until he made sure everything around him knew he was the boss (little does he know that General Lonzo is the REAL boss). He and Rubio still don't black beard each other, guess Leo feels they're on equal status! He's so funny and we're glad to have him. I'll take more pics later. I'll also get more pics of Angel up today.

Thanks Jiffy, he's a really good eater, too, salad and supers, so hoping to fatten him up a bit over the summer. He's got alot of fat deposits in his tail and the fat pads are starting to fill up, too. He was so skinny when the young couple next door got him. Because Roger is home all day, he's retired, it's easy to take care of everyone. He's really fit in, even though I would have thought we had no more room with 5 beardies, a gecko and a beta fish. Leo loves to cuddle, in fact sometimes you have to work to get him detached from your clothing to put him back in his hide. I love the diamond pattern on his back, never seen that before.

I've been checking the blog, looks like Foster and Brady both have secret admirers...that blog is so much fun!

I'll be taking more pics tomorrow, got to take advantage of being on holiday for the week.

Took some more pics of Leo today, every time he was out of his viv, he'd head for the balcony window. As it's cold outside I'd put him back in his viv under his basking light so he could warm up & get some UVB, too. He sure is a cuddle bum! Last night he slept on a soft towel, but tonight he slept under his basking spot. He's not used to sleeping on something soft!

He sure has the begging look down pat. I think he'll be glad to get out, just like Angel and Rubio. They spend most of their out of viv time trying to get out on the balcony, guess they don't realize how cold they get doing this. All our beardies love the outside sun, only Issy freaks out if she sees or hears a crow or an airplane, she runs for cover every time. The rest don't seem to be bothered. I'm not sure a bird would even see our beardies, our balcony is very sheltered.

Leo ate 9 worms and lots of salad today, can't get over his appetite, our other 5 beardies aren't eating much yet. They're all very sleepy still, but I've insisted they all have a bath every morning as they tend to get more dehydrated in the winter, as besides their power suns the heating is on.

Thanks Cindy, he's fit right in, loves to black beard and bob the girls; we haven't got his viv sorted quite yet, it's only a 29 gal tall, so he'll need a bigger tank soon but he's outside of his tank alot. We have a Power Sun set up in the living room with a cushion underneath, so any of the beardies out roaming have a place to warm up & get some sun. We'll start looking around. He's VERY cuddly, which is why his nickname is Velcro, once you pic him up, he clings like velcro, loves cuddling. We're glad to have him, I don't think he got enough attention next door. It sure is a busy morning bath wise in our house, I'm the bath lady, I've been on vacation this week but I go back to work next week and I'll have 6 beardies to bath, clean up poop for. At least they're all morning dragons as far as bath/water/poop goes. I leave for work at 11a, so have some time to bath everyone. I'm on vacation this week and would love to stay home and take care of all our babies all day, oh well, only 10 yrs to retirement, then I will be home all day!

I really enjoyed the adventures on the blog, it was a great idea! I've got to get Rubio to comment on it again.

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
