Great to hear that he finally pooped. Yes, it can be exciting can't it? :lol:
They do like to scratch around, & dig sometimes. However, right now, with him being so young, I don't recommend having a loose substrate.
What you could do is shred some paper & make a pile for him to dig around in right now, instead of using sand, etc to entertain him.
I hope he is doing much better now.
