I have a beardie with Muscular dystrophy (yay now I have two)
This dude seems to have much less control over himself compared to my other beardie with MD. He bit his tongue about a month ago according to previous owner and has been syringe fed since. He is excited about food, but refuses solids.
While I was syringe feeding him, I noticed he was biting and re-injuring his tongue while aggressively attacking the syringe.
The vet said to just keep syringe feeding him and keep his mouth clean for it to heal. I have tried making the slurries less solid and it seems to have helped a little, but he is still biting his tongue.
I know its a long shot, but does anyone have any tips on getting him to calm down on feedings and help keep him from biting his tongue to the point of bleeding every meal? I have been feeding him more often in an attempt to have him feel less hungry during feedings, but he acts like he's never been fed before every time he sees the syringe.
Not feeding him for a couple days to heal is not an option. He is so thin that a few days without food will be extremely detrimental.
