No extra lights at night. I typically take him out once a day to sit by me. My son is in his room a lot and interacts with him frequently. He topped out at 250 g and last weight was 244 g about a week ago.

So he has lost weight not alot -- your UVB is still good? -- T 8's need to be changed out around 6 months I recommend 5--- did you have the lights on at all during the brumation period- and how long was he down for? I would get 2 digital probe thermometers for your tank one for the cool side and one for your basking side -- your dragon has me stumped --- the IR gun is good but you want to be able to monitor those temps and digitals are the most accurate -- you dont need to leave the probe on the basking spot all the time but I would place it there every so often to double check your temps- please weigh him every week to see if he continues to lose weight -- if he does he will need a vet visit-- if hes not losing weight and sustains it that is good --- dont move the tank to the basement I read wrong and thought he was in the basement --- leave him there or move him to the main floor of the house --- sorry --- do you run air in the summer? Right now I have 2 basking areas in my tanks - one hot side one middle of the tank where my UVB's are located -- I really haft to watch the temps there as they tend to get as hot as the hot basking area - I dont want them as hot so I keep a digital thermometer on the basking decor piece so I can monitor that area since its getting warmer in the days now I end up shutting that regular house hold bulb off its a 60 watt -- and now that its getting summer that area is heating up by afternoon yesterday it was close to 100 so I shut it off --- my cool side of the tank stays around 80's - I have 2 hides in the tanks - one on the cool side and the basking decor piece under the UVB's are also caves -- I would also get a digital probe hygrometer in the tank -- place the probe on the back center wall and it will read the whole tank - optimal humidity 30-50% you dont want it over 70 and under 20% --

Thanks. Would you advise we not relocate him to the larger tank until we figure out what is wrong? I would imagine that would only stress him out more.

Hes going to go thru relocation stress no matter what so it is up to you -- keep track of his weight for now and see if hes losing it ---- if he is losing weight then I would get him in to the vet -- there is something else going on then - if hes sustaining it then that is good - I am going to have Tracie look at your post and see what she thinks -- shes the vet tech mod on here and is on late at nite

Hello,

Your boy looks really good overall. How long has it been since he has eaten just since he came
out of brumation in February? Have you tried changing up his diet some? Maybe try using some
bee pollen to help boost his immune system.
If he is losing weight you might want to wait to move him to another tank until you figure out what
could be going on with him.
Since you are using a temp gun, your temperatures should be spot on. What are the ambient
temperatures in the tank? If the tank is sitting directly in the sun then the ambient temperatures
could be getting too high which can affect his appetite & behavior.

Let us know how he is doing.
Tracie

I took Kronk to a vet yesterday. I didn’t get much value out of it. She suggested I see a specialist at the state’s vet school. I’m not sure I will do that. She agreed that it seems unlikely that it is a coincidence that he has stopped eating at the same time he stopped eating last year. And here is where it got weird—she is not convinced he is a male! She suggested he could be a female and that this switch in behavior could be related to egg production?!? She did not feel eggs however. But suggested I might want to try putting in a dig box for Kronk.

This threw me for a loop. Wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this?

I’ve tried reading up on sexing a bearded dragon but it’s still confusing looking at Kronk. She said his/her hemipenal bulges were very small compared to her male dragon’s.

To me the area above the vent is flat- meaning female- I dont see any bumps at all

I would say ever so slight bumps. Can females have any deviation there?

If Kronk is indeed a female, what does that mean about his/her behavior? Could he/she stop eating for a reason that is normal?

They all quit eating at times for some reason or another - it's a process of narrowing it down as to why-- has kronk been doing any digging? That is a sign of eggs- has a fecal been done to rule out parasites? They will quit eating and lose weight if the count is too high-

He has not pooped for two weeks since he stopped eating. He had two large stools and neither smelled. But when he takes his next, I will have them check it.

He does dig. What should I offer him to dig in? I’m nervous about substrates. I will try to do some research on my own. Sorry to keep asking questions. I do appreciate the advice.

if Kronk is digging make this up for her --
LAYBOX
potting soil that doesn't have any type of
chemicals or fertilizers in it, mixed with sand, etc. Be sure it is at least 10-12 inches deep & that
the mix is damp enough to where it will hold up to her making a burrow but not sopping wet to
have standing water.

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
