Bearded Dragon Poop

I'm worried about my Bearded Dragon. I thought it was just undigested watermelon, but I think it might be blood in her poop. I wasn't able to get her any feeder insects for a couple of weeks, so she just stuck to her watercress and cucumber diet. About last week, I was able to buy crickets and I just bought superworms Saturday, along with some watermelon last week.

She's an 11-month-old female, her temperatures stay at 90F on the hot side, usually low 80'sF on the cool side. Could this be because I hadn't given her any feeders in a few weeks, and the sudden protein is causing the possible blood in her poop? Could it be because it's starting to get colder? I'm just worried that I'm doing something wrong.

She was having diarrhea for those few weeks without feeders, the occasional solid in between. This past week has been solid every day, with normal urate until about Friday, when I saw that there was (what I thought) undigested watermelon. Then it was normal, and now, it seems as if there's blood because she hasn't had watermelon since Friday.

She's also suddenly scared of me when I put my hand in the tank, I had to because I needed to clean up her poop and find the superworm I had lost.

Is she okay? Should I try to schedule her an appointment with the vet? The exotic vet that's here isn't in that much, the office is mostly for dogs and cats. I will try if I'm told I need to.

Hello,

Do you have any pictures of her & the tank setup we could see?
It is hard to know for sure whether or not her stool actually had blood or if it was watermelon.
Does she seem to strain at all when she has to go potty or not?
Blood in the stool or urates, etc is normally caused by a heavier than usual level of worms or
parasites, or if they strain any with a hard urate.
The basking temperature is 90 or is that the ambient temperature in that area? We recommend
the basking temperatures to be around 95-105F with a cooler end of around 78-82F.
Are you giving calcium 4-5 times per week for her?
I wouldn't give watermelon too often as it is a high water content & can cause diarrhea. Cucumbers
are ok but are pretty watery, too. Try winter squash, sweet potato or bell pepper variety for some
veggie variety for her. I don't think protein from the superworms would cause blood in the stool
though.

You could consider getting a fecal done on her to be sure she doesn't have worms or parasites.
Let us know how she is doing.

Tracie, I don't have any pictures of her and her set up on my computer (they're all on a flashdrive somewhere), but I just remembered that it was around three months ago when I took her to the vet for a nail trim, and the exotic doctor did say she looked good.

If it was blood, would it be just inside the poop, or would it be on the outside too? It doesn't seem like she's straining, it seems to come out pretty easy; her urate also feels normal, not too soft and not too hard.

I will try and get her basking temperature up a little higher, but her tank is by a window and it's getting a little colder now. In the summer, it reaches about 100F.

She gets calcium with D3 about five times a week, the D3 count isn't high enough to cause any problems (I made sure), and the calcium I use was recommended to me by several other bearded dragon owners.

I will try the other veggies you recommended, squash might be out, the last time I gave it to her, she refused to eat it.

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
