Infection under stuck shed??!

My bearded dragon has been having trouble shedding his tail at the end. I noticed it was not shedding as fast as usual and now it's been over a month and hasn't come off at all.

Now just in the past few days I've noticed that when I touch the end of his tail gently he yanks it away which is telling me that it is causing him discomfort.

Does this mean an infection?
It is not turning black (yet)
How can I help this shed come of force and treat a potential infection?

Thank you so much! I'm worried about him

Hi there! If it's a stuck shed you can help it along with warm baths to soften the shed and using a baby tooth brush to gently brush it off. If you're suspecting onset of tail rot you can dip the affected area of tail into a betadine solution for several minutes and applying Neosporin (original only) on affected area twice a day.

Hello,

The tail sheds are often difficult, that is for sure. Do you have any pictures of the tail that we
could see? That could help us to see whether or not it looks like infection setting in.
You can also use some shea butter or organic coconut oil on the end of the tail to help too.
It could just be itchy & irritating for him but not necessarily painful.

Hi there, it looks fine to me. Adults can take a long time shedding , that's normal. I think that he's just reacting to the touches not in pain but just sort of like , hey I don't want my tail messed with right now.

Hello,

I agree--it is a normal looking shed. :D The tail area can be pretty sensitive when shedding so
that's probably why he doesn't like it touched right now.
