To my knowledge, the vet said she removed the stuck shed and tried to get stool sample and a lot came out, like days worth, she even showed me the poop.

My dragon almost completed shedding except for the cloaca area, which i thought to just leave it alone and let it shed by itself. So it was not impaction, just stuck shed.

AHBD wrote:Good to hear that he's still hanging in there ! The pooing at the vet's would have just been from stress, that's very common. There is no such thing as shed preventing a poo. :)

I highly doubt the pooing at the vet is from stress, if there's any stress, it will be from a week earlier, and that much poop, definitely is somehow stuck poop. You could not possibly hold that much poop for that long. I know how much poop my dragon usually poops a day. that's almost 3 days worth, considering he hasnt eaten for 1 week and a half. Plus I have been dipping him in warm bath and massaging his stomach for the past week. So definitely not stress poop, it is stuck one way or another. Just glad it was not impaction. And after the poop, he really starts eating more of the puree, as opposed to just licking.

I have to check what was prescribed, i only read the 'anti-parasitic' label. The parasites count is not particularly high (she showed the microscopic picture), but it's more of a precautionary measure to prevent escalation in adulthood. As she mentioned, this might not affect the dragon now, but in future it might as she has seen it happen.

P.S.:She specialises in wildlife and worked as a zoo vet before as well.

Ok yeah let us know. Sometimes the treatment causes more issues depending on what was prescribed. Especially to a dragon who is already having some issues.

Hello,

So, exactly what did the vet remove, he was not impacted any? How is his shedding coming
along, is he completely done then?
Is he eating anything yet?
I hope he is feeling better. Keep us posted on his progress.

I will have to keep monitoring him and make sure he gets his intake of calcium and protein he needs.

X-ray does not show any impaction. The vet removed all remaining shedding which is mainly the cloaca area and a bit of the shoulder. This was all that the vet told me she removed, nothing else, and the poop came right through, which is a huge relief! Now shedding is pretty much completed.

The vet also mentioned there's some bload in the belly due to gas from the food, maybe because of insufficient heating or the stuck stool.

After the vet visit, I gave him an hour of heat and uvb before i fed him with the protein/calcium concoction with a syringe. He definitely responded better and gobbled quite a bit. All seems positive, he seems bit more active and alert as well.

Because he has been weak due to the appetite drop, vet told me it might take maybe twice or thrice the duration of him not eating to recover. So I am just going to make sure he has sufficient nutrients, UVB and heat for digestion.

Just a final update.

My dragon just died. I found him motionless when i got home, body darkened on the eyes, body, tail and legs. He was stiff.

After the vet visit on monday which he pooped, he didnt poop until thursday. But on Thursday, he was suddenly really weak. I am not sure if it is because of too much protein and/calcium. He was barely able to move.

Today(Friday), he pooped again, but still weak. He did move around a bit in the morning but otherwise just breathing.

I feel it is really difficult to keep a dragon alive once they are barely moving as they are not able to regulate their temperature on their own.

I still do not know why he passed on, I tried my best but still couldn't keep him alive.

Thank you guys for all the advice.
