So, I got a new baby bearded dragon (1-2 months) on Saturday. It’s not Wednesday. Up until yesterday he was just eating small crickets. He wasn’t eating that many (maybe 15-20 a day). I had ordered some Dubia Roaches online and i ordered the wrong size(5/8 of an inch) but gave him some smaller ones to see if he would eat. Of course went crazy for them. He now wants nothing to do with the crickets and only wants dubias. I order some smaller ones yesterday but they won’t come until around Friday or Saturday. How do I get him to eat without feeding him dubias that are much too big for him?? :/

I should also note no pet stores around me sell Dubia Roaches In WA state

Hello,

That unfortunately happens, they become picky & will only eat certain things!
You can keep trying with the crickets, but if he just wont eat them you can try a few mealworms
if he will eat those, or some baby food chicken or turkey to help until your dubias get there for
you.
Short term, he should be fine. Is he eating any greens or veggies right now?

Hey! So I got him to eat a few calciworms yesterday! So that’s atleast something. I’m just worried he’s not eating enough. He’s 1-2 months and has been MAYBE eating 15-20 feeders a day at best. I ordered about 300 small dubias two days ago for him and my leo so hopefully he’ll eat more of those when they come. He eats some veggies. Some mornings he’ll only take one bite of the collard green and sometimes he’ll eat like 5. I understand he’s probably still settling in and I need to give it time haha I’m just worried about him.

Hello,

That is terrific he did eat something for you today!
Yes, he is very young so I agree he needs to eat more, but the calciworms are good for him
& that will suffice until you get your dubias in.
At least he is eating some greens, even if it isn't a lot right now. Usually, the youngsters don't
always eat a lot of greens. Keep offering them though & eventually he will recognize them as
a food source more.
It does take a week or two for them to fully settle into a new home. I'm sure he will do great!
Let us know how he is doing!

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
