Slurry Recommendations Needed

Our dragon, Arbiter, was diagnosed last year with MBD, MD and Liver Disease. The vet had put her on Oxbow Herbivore care and now wants us to swap over to something called Emeraid Critical Carnivore care along with a supplement called hepforte. We can not find the Emeraid anywhere or the hepforte. Is there any alternate slurries and supplements available anywhere? Recommendations would be appreciated.

The Oxbow is pretty good stuff. You can definitely make your own slurry though. You want it to be about the consistency of baby food. I used to mix squash, green beans, collard greens (and sometimes others) in a blender with some water. Run that through a sieve to get the large bits out. Then I'd run it through a clean dish cloth or cheesecloth to drain enough water to get it to about baby food consistency. I could store that in a jar for a week or so. You can add quite a variety of veges this way.

Oxbow makes a carnivore care as well - did the vet give any reason for recommending the other brand over that? You could probably blend the carnivore and the herbivore ones for a balance, and/or include some of the homemade slurry.

From what we could see the Emeraid needs a prescription. The vet is a teaching hospital. Before they sent the Oxbow home with us, but this time did not send the Emeraid or the prescription. They did give us a small ziplock bag with a couple of days of the Emeraid. For now we bought the Oxbow fine grind for herbivores. The Vet also said she could have two bugs a week so we got her some live meal worms and she is eating her veggies which she has never done. I think we will try to homemade slurry too and add some protein powder sometimes if that sounds ok?

We got her the Oxbow critical fine ground...It is REALLY thick however when we mix it according to the package. Do you guys think we should water it down a wee bit? It is way thicker than the regular Oxbow herbivore stuff is.

Yeah if it's too thick you can just water it down a little so it passes through a syringe more easily. That will provide some extra hydration too, which is good.

Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
