I have had my bearded dragon for almost a month on Friday it’ll be a month. I just recently bought him a UVB Heat lamp for the past three weeks he hasn’t had UVB. he was fine yesterday and this morning he ate abou three Dubia roaches and he’s in the process of having his body to start shedding. I came home from work and he’s been asleep and none responsive like usual. I tried to give him a bath and nothing I held him and he felt lifeless. He didn’t eat...he will open his eyes for about 3 seconds then close them again... CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP!! He use to use a 100w light but the lady at reptile factory said to use an 80w light.i haven’t changed anything in his diet..just his light to a UVB light.

Not having the UVB for 3 weeks is probably whats going on--- you need to PM AHBD or TracieDrache613-- my guess he needs calcium and they can help you better than I -- if you live in a warm area and got sun take him outside for some direct sunlight -- 15 minutes and that is equilivent to 4 hrs of UVB -- what kind of UVB did you get you need one of these a Reptisun 10 T5, or the Arcadia D3 12% or 14% T5 tube, both of which are very good. You will need a T5 light fixture also. UVB is crucial to their health-- should be placed inside the tank approx 10-11 inches from basking spot

I am using the power sun UV 80w. I don’t have it on a fixture yet it just sits on his screen tank. He opens his eyes but quickly closes them. I’m not sure if he’s being super lazy or becoming luthargic. I heard the tubing lights do nothing for them which is why I got the power sun UV light.

i dont know anything about the UV 80 but from what I have and what I have been told and am using is the Reptisun 10 T5, or you can use the Arcadia D3 12% or 14% T5 tube, both of which are very good. You will need a T5 light fixture also. This is what is recommended by most of this forum--- your dragon is need of UVB --- badly from what it sounds like-- who told you the tube lights were bad -- they have given you bad advice ---

So I would have to go buy another night? The one I was using before this every happened was an repti basking spot lamp 100w that has UVA. Didn’t have a UVB light and he was fine. I kept asking the reptile factory if he needed the other light and they said no.

You want two different lights-- one for basking and one for UVB --- the ones I sent you are the ones you need for best health for your dragon--- your basking light is probably fine if its keeping his temps 90-105-- that temp is taken w/ a Infrared Heat gun - they give the most accurate temps and can be found at Walmart or Home Depot or Lowes for $10 - the UVB needs to be inside the tank -- your probe thermometer is giving you ambient temps if that is whats in the tank -- most pet stores like Petco and Petsmart dont know what they are talking about and I am surprised this Reptile Factory has given you this bad advice as well - like I said I really dont know anything about the Power Sun light-- let me PM ABHD about that light and I will either get back w/ you or have her about the Power Sun

I agree with Karrie, going without UVB for three weeks is what's making the little guy pretty weak. BOTH the basking bulb and UVB overall provides good health and helps with digestion and such. Is he pooping normal? The shedding will also make him a little lethargic, but he should still be alert and it seems that he is not. The tube UVB T5 fixture should be bought asap and it should help him perk up. Also, are you dusting your dubia with calcium and vitamins? Babies need calcium everyday and vitamins every other or a few times a week.

Can you go over the rest of your setup with us? Tank size, substrate, etc. Maybe post a picture of his tank.

I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
