Hello,
I agree, his tank is very nice & decorative. I would remove the sand, since it is the calcium
based sand. It can contribute to impaction as well as parasitic outbreaks too from just too
much bacteria. It can also stain their scales too taking forever to shed & slough off, also.
His hands look like they are going to shed also.
We all definitely recommend fresh foods, as suggested, pellets are ok in a varied diet since
they can peak interest in food. A lot of them wont eat them but some will. You can also moisten
them with water or a diluted juice until they are a bit softer or just chewy but not crunchy & mix
them in with their greens/veggies for variety.
A primary reason for his lethargic behavior is due to improper UVB lighting. They are unable to
process their foods & vitamins, especially calcium, without proper UVB lighting & will fall prey to
metabolic bone disease.
Great advice & guidance here. We are here for you when you have more questions & need
direction on making the lighting changes in your tank, too.
I think that he can make a full recovery but the UVB lighting is essential & must be changed &
upgraded as soon as possible.
Let us know how things are going!
