Juvenile Beardie Fell

So my 10 inch bearded dragon fell from 3 and a half to 4 feet up Friday (it is Sunday today). Maybe even 4 and a half feet. He landed on hardwood floors, stopped for a minute, and then ran around my dining room like a lunatic. I picked him up and put him back in his enclosure and fed him. He ate a bunch lol. There were some new people around that he hadnt met so i guess he got spooked. He was acting fine Friday and yesterday. He ate yesterday, sat in his water bowl, used the bathroom and it looked relatively normal. My only note from yesterday was that he seemed slightly bloated. Today its like a whole 180. He was very scared of me today for some reason. I waved at him and hes less scared now but wont let me near him. He wont eat. He woke up and then went and laid in his basking spot and started pancaking. He moved a few times but onky because he got spooked and now hes back in his basking spot. Is he injured? Theres no cuts or bruises and no signs of blood. The only abnormalities are his behavior and some slight bloating in his abdomen area. Sometimes its like hes breathing funny but it might just be stress. Idk hes just acting funny and im scares he has internal bleeding or something. Hes been fine since the fall until today. I have taken him out. Ive tried to hold him a few times to get a better look at him but like i said he wont let me (full blackbeard and gets ready to bite, i dont want to cause more issues by stressing him out).

It sounds like maybe he was startled but from your descriptions, it doesn't sound like he is injured. I'd just give him some more time to settle back down and he should be OK. Do keep watching for signs of blood in stool or limping etc.

So my beardie is having what looks like muscle spasms by his ribs on the left side and in his back left leg and he keeps whipping his tail around and moving around really fast and just acting really weird in general. Is that cause for concern?

Hi there, he's probably feeling it more today, just like sometimes we fall and it hurts worse the next day. They will also sometimes do a serpentine motion to " assist " the food through the digestive tract so that may be what you're seeing. Can you post a video of it ?

BTW, if he ever has a fall or other trauma of some sort it's best to not feed them a lot shortly after but just let them rest + observe them, perhaps allowing just a small meal. And do be careful, many owners walk around with a baby on their shoulders or up high on a table and sometimes very bad injuries occur when the beardie jumps off. Always be careful because it can happen in a second.

I suggest a visit to a reptile vet to have him examined , request xrays , they will tell the vet and you if he's got any serious bone or internal organ injuries and then take it from there depending on what shows up.

Well, hes stopped doing it now and hes acting completely normal and let me stroke his back for a minute. His behavior has gone completely back to normal in the span of 24 hours. I will likely schedule a vet appointment for as soon as possible tomorrow. Thank you all for the help!

That's good, sounds like he's fine. Just a bit stiff the other day and fed too much after his fall I think. Nothing to worry about now.

Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
